Welcome to Eric Cancer Initiative

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, and Uganda is no exception. In Uganda, the incidence of cancer is rising, and it is estimated that 60% of cancer cases in the country are preventable. Despite this, many Ugandans lack access to cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care.

We aim to raise awareness about cancer in Uganda and provide information and resources to those affected by the disease. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality cancer care, regardless of their income or location.

Here you will find information on the different types of cancer that affect Ugandans, But mainly about breast cancer. We provide resources on cancer prevention, including healthy lifestyle choices and early detection through screening.

For those currently living with cancer, we offer information on cancer treatment options, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.

 

We understand that cancer can be a difficult journey, both for those living with the disease and their loved ones. That’s why we also offer support resources, including counseling services and support groups.

We are committed to improving access to information about cancer care in Uganda

Our Services

Education and Outreach

  • Survey (that is you!) the community to assess the current state of awareness
  • Seminars with Village Health Teams
  • Distribution of educational materials to women
  • Education on how to do a self exam

Screening

  • December 8-18th Two screening locations, one in Katosi and one in Ndejje University

  • Medical staff will provide screenings and instructions on self screening

  • We will provide incentives for women to take this opportunity

Follow Up Support

If someone does need follow up support after the screening we will provide follow up support such as

  • Linking victims to health care systems to achieve a continuum of care.
  • Partnering with community-led organizations to provide care.
  • Routine follow up by ERIC team to assess the management process.
